John Lowndes is the Founding Shareholder of Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A. For over 40 years, John focused his legal practice on Real Estate Transactions, and Development and Finance. He had extensive experience representing developers in all aspects - acquisition, due diligence, entitlements and zoning approvals, master planning and development, and finance - for large office, retail, residential, hotel, and mixed-use projects.
John, who moved to Central Florida after graduating from Duke University, started the firm with three other partners. He attributed much of the firm's success to its attorneys and staff, many of whom have been with the firm their entire career. He also set the standard for the firm's commitment to the community, as well as to its clients.
The firm has been long known as a strong corporate citizen with dedicated civic and charitable support and involvement. In 2000, the home of the Orlando-UCF Shakespeare Festival in Loch Haven Park was given tremendous financial backing by the firm's founder and was renamed the John and Rita Lowndes Shakespeare Center. John has encouraged firm members to have leadership roles in educational and charitable organizations and provide volunteer time to community events. John will always be remembered by the Winter Park Land Trust for his strong support and his unique wisdom.
